At Stand W231D, the Italian delegation presents the high quality production and technological capacities of 16 top class companies of automotive components

August 2008 – Piemonte, North-Western Italian region, is at MIMS - Moscow International Motor Show (28th August - 1st September) with 16 excellent companies active in the field of components for auto, commercial and industrial vehicles, trailers and buses. Four of them have already strong commercial partnerships with Russian players. The regional participation is promoted by the Torino Chamber of Commerce and managed by the Piemonte Agency for Investments, Export and Tourism.

In booth W231D the Piedmontese companies propose to international buyers their cutting edge samples: motor components, transmission and suspensions components, intake and exhaust systems, body panels, wheels, electrical and electronical components, interiors, accessories, care and washing products and garage equipment. Furthermore, here visitors also have the opportunity to meet the operative team of From Concept to Car - project promoting abroad a selection of 150 best in class industries and the expertise of the regional automotive industry - which provides international players with a wide supply offer and a valuable support in outsourcing activities in Piemonte.

Russia is for Piemonte a strategic supplier and a relevant business partner especially in components, spare parts and accessories. In 2007, Piedmontese exports of means of transportation to Russia registered a growth of 136%, classifying the sector second in the regional exportation ratings. Also the Russian purchases in Piemonte have developed and intensified: in 2007, Russian acquisitions of parts and components have reached a value of 34 million Euros (+90,7%), and those of vehicles 85 million Euros (+180%). These performing figures are realized thanks to the 372 excellent industries of the components field based in Piemonte, employing 78.000 people and characterized by a high expertise in manufacturing and production capacities. The components sector boasts a high production value and an expanding international activity: in 2007, exportations reached up to 5 billion Euros (38% of the Italian total), and 74% of the companies declared operating on global markets. Moreover, compared to 2006, the Piedmontese foreign turnover of components and accessories increased by 10%, a remarkably higher percentage than the rest of Italy (+6,5%).

Piemonte is internationally known to be the cradle of the Italian automotive industry and its capital city, Torino, hosts the headquarters of Italian multinational FIAT. The region is home to a competitive automotive network of 956 companies, including 141.000 people, and covering the whole production cycle from the initial design to the construction of the vehicle for pre-series, specialised or mass production. Here, foreign buyers find technical and technological know how combined to a rich heritage of expertise in terms of inventiveness, skill, love for the product and technical/design quality. Not only: Piemonte is also distinguished by its considerable trend towards innovation and the relationship with universities, 40% of the companies investing in R&D activities.
